The true state of America P.S. Were all doomed

I used to be very far left and have changed my views over the last two years and find my self more center right, and ultimately i had a little breakdown moment telling my boyfriend, “All i want is peace, the rioters (not talking about the protesters) are destroying people’s livelihoods and are dying in the process, does me wanting all of it to end make me a bar person??”. Shits hard, all the young people i know are pretty much on the train of ‘won’t look or acknowledge the deaths or videos of black people expressing their pain for their businesses being destroyed’ not a single one of the them have even posted anything to show solidarity for David Dorn. I’ve gotten off of social media completely because i love my friends, and can’t deal with the things they are posting or saying, my views aren’t a big deal and i can keep them to myself. But it hurts. I used to be a small business owner myself, and am latino/hispanic, and one the things i learned through the process was just what a powerful thing it is to be self employed, and to be able to create a way to move upward. Having a small business to pass on to your children is SUCH a huge advantage to breaking the cycle of poverty, and to hear countless stories of people, hard working people, losing their life’s work, just after being hit hard and drained by covid..., i feel like there’s some empathy lacking.
