True story. Something ,something... "Delayed Gratification"

(Young) lawyer here - one year I got a $20k bonus check and the first thought that ran through my mind was, “was all that work really worth just this much extra?”

Trust me, I’m extremely grateful to have reached the level of success I have. And I absolutely do not take for granted how huge of a bonus that would be for the vast majority of people. None of that is lost on me, my parents raised me right and taught me the value of s dollar.

My whole point is, think about how much $20k would mean to you, and then think about how horrible the job would have to be for you to re-think whether it was all worth just $20k...that’s how difficult being a lawyer is. It was the only time where I felt like I understood why Dave Chappelle ran away from his show. People really don’t truly understand the demands of this job unless they witness it first hand or through a loved one.

And I’m one of the ones who “made it,” so to speak. There are tons of attorneys who work as hard, if not harder, than I do who make far less than me. Fucking. Brutal.
