Was Truman right to drop the bombs on Japan?

You mean like the same way Churchill undermined democratic procedures in other countries like Greece where they did not even hesitate to bomb the city's port and openly shoot people in the street in order to drive the Greek partizans(who were communist) out of the city? Imprisoning people that previously fought against the nazis and pardoning people that worked for the nazis, funding the nationalists, imposing the King without free elections and other meddling that, along with the ineptitude of the Greek Communist Party's Leadership, eventually led to the Greek civil war. Basically f*ck all Big Three at Yalta. They decided the fate of of the whole world and wrote it down on pieces of napkin with percentages of influence per country. They created more war, more poverty and more misery.
