The Truman Show had a line with some even more frightening implications than I think most people realized.

Maybe a show where the first season kind of covers this sort of ground, with hints that there’s a portion of society that’s pushing back against it. Then as the show goes on, season two or beyond, the production starts getting messed with and we see more social outrage about its existence and discover that an older Truman is actually involved in the effort of trying to stop the show.

In context, we learn that this new show is essentially a reboot of Christof’s “old idea,” taken to even further extremes to account for our real world developments (IE social media), and whoever this new creator is is pitching on the idea that enough time has passed for there to be nostalgia for “a new Truman” by an entertainment-consumed mainstream that has quickly forgotten the “Truman scandal” and longs for the days they were invested in that old show again.
