Trump administration quietly makes it legal to bring elephant parts to the U.S. as trophies

I'd say research trophy hunting a little bit more. There's no mercy killing here, it's just pure pleasure. And lions? No, they're not going to track out the old geezer and let a trophy hunter take a crack at him. They're going to drug it and sell it as a canned hunt. Canned hunting luckily is illegal, but the problem is that it's hard to prove and CITES is still likely to approve of a souvenir.

It's just not a very moral concept. I honestly put poachers above trophy hunters. That's how sick trophy hunting is. Having someone pay tens of thousands of dollars to go to Africa for two weeks and chase down a predetermined animal, that's already been handled and selected and chosen for elimination, to shoot (incompetently) at close range and then have the trophies professionally made and delivered to your home...is not really trophy hunting.

People like Don Jr. or Walter Palmer aren't finding these animals in the wild, there are massive groups of real hunters doing the work for them so they can get a kick off of it.

Honestly, it shouldn't be controversial. These guys are worse than poachers. So if you hear "poacher" and you think "those sick bastards!" then you should know where your priorities lie.
