Trump counties make up just 29 percent of U.S. economic output, 2020 election study shows

It isn't about Trump any more. They found each other through him, which gives them a sense of purpose they didn't have before.

The conservative world was, for decades, a chaotic collective of factions - single issue voters, Second Amendment defenders, God's army, fiscal conservatives, military advocates, sovereign defenders, right-wing constitutionalists, anti-Democrat voters, etc. Now they're mostly united as a defense against all things liberal or socialism. Every attack on Trump is an attack on them, which deepens their sense of unity and loyalty to what they deem a noble cause: Save America from itself.

It's a different kind of tribalism now. It used to be all about being loyal to the GOP (or for some, Tea Party), but now it's all about being loyal to the noble cause.

I think the next four years and the 2024 election will truly determine the future of this country. That's when we know whether this country stays loyal to the founding fathers' vision or breaks away in favor of the noble cause.
