Yes, you dont get paid. Thats why i said paychecks stop. What you do get, however, is back pay when the shutdown ends, if you're a fed. And, if you're a contractor considered "essential", your employer is still required to pay you on time if you are allowed to work, they just aren't getting reimbursed by the government.

This is literally how it worked the last major shutdown.

Seriously, the bar is low to be considered essential staff. That's why I said it's just for show. You inconvenience the public to put pressure on law makers.

And at least one person is going to be in every federal building, even if they are just maintenance, because they are required to maintain federal property by law.
