Trump Jr. Was Told in Email of Russian Effort to Aid Campaign

  • Saturday, July 8th: NYT reports that Don Jr. had met with a woman named Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer of questionable repute. Veselnitskaya released a statement that day saying that the meeting hadn’t contained anything about the Presidential campaign.
  • Sunday, July 9th: Don Jr. comes out and essentially says “lol no it totally did”, going on to explain that he’d met with Veselnitskaya because she’d promised dirt on Clinton, but that he’d been disappointed when she’d “only” wanted to talk about anti-Russia sanctions, and that the meeting ultimately went nowhere.
  • Monday, July 10th: NYT reports that three individual sources who saw the email could confirm that the source of Veselnitskaya’s dirt was indeed the Russian government, and that Don Jr. knew this before taking the meeting.
