Trump names Lt. Gen. HR McMaster as national security adviser

Rick Perry oversaw a surprisingly progressive energy policy as governor of Texas. His efforts to encourage wind infrastructure investment has made Texas a global leader in wind power in addition to its status as the global HQ of the oil industry. In 2015 Texas generated 15% of the USA's non-hydro renewable energy (Texas gets a pass on hydro due to extreme flatness or dryness or both).

He took the Department of Energy job without fully understanding the role it plays in maintaining our nuclear arsenal. To his credit he quickly admitted he was completely out of his depth on this topic and that he is committed to doing his part to get the right people under him to take good care of the nukes while he focuses on the energy policy side of things.

He's certainly changed his tune from the days when he was calling for the department to be abolished (or forgetting about it entirely). Unfortunately, Secretary DeVos has continued to express her desire to have her position abolished by Congress. All in all, 1 out of 2 ain't bad seems like a fitting motto for this cabinet.
