Trump says Iran made ‘big mistake’ in downing US drone

Nah, sorry, you cannot start shooting down aircraft in international airspace. Economic exclusion zones have nothing to do with this.

The drone was a model used for maritime surveillance, not land.

The EEZ has international laws pertaining it and Iran does indeed have the right to shoot down other countries military surveillance planes. Also, how would Iran know exactly what type of equipment the drone has? And how can we trust the US to tell us exactly what type of equipment the drone has?

Considering the fact that Iran has attacked 6 oil tankers in the last two months I’m struggling to see how you can argue that the US performing maritime surveillance in a region critical for the global economy is an aggressive act.

Fact? I've not seen any evidence that Iran was behind the other 4 tankers that were attacked and while the recent 2 has a lot of evidence that Iran was behind it, the investigation isn't finished yet, so calling it a "fact" is just outright wrong.
