Trump Used Asian Accent to Mock US Allies at Fundraiser

The difference between a sociopath and a psychopath is that a sociopath becomes this way after birth--either through childhood trauma or a deliberate attempt to gain power--while a psychopath is born this way. They both think and act the same

That is not at all what those words mean at all. Both sociopathy (ASPD, antisocial personality disorder) and psychopathy both refer to genetic conditions which are present from birth, though they cant officially be diagnosed until adulthood. If the problems develop later in life it is not psychopathy/sociopathy

Psychopathy is in a way a more extreme form of sociopathy, though there are very important differences. While a psychopath never cares for anyone, sociopaths can develop emotional attachments to people they are close to such as family. To be specific, a psychopath wouldnt feel anything if they caused a family member to get hurt, the sociopath might feel guilt, regret, shame and such. A psychopath has excellent self control, even under incredibly high stress environments they remain calm and unaffected. A sociopath tends to have less self control, being easier to anger, more nervous, and generally more like to act spontaneously without thinking through the consequences. Psychopaths tend to be able to blend in with society very well, mimicking normal peoples emotions. Sociopaths tend to struggle with blending in to society due to developing emotional attachments and their spontaneous emotional responses. The symptoms of sociopaths can also improve as the subject ages, where psychopathy remains constant

To give a hypothetical to play out the differences a bit. A psychopath could be a very charming person, able to easily manipulate others. The psychopathy is unlikely to be caught doing criminal activity due to how they are able to calmly plan out their activity, never acting without first thinking through their actions. The psychopath will have absolutely no empathy for others

The sociopath doesnt have the same ease with manipulation, they find it harder to blend in due to their tendency to act in response to their emotions without forethought. The sociopath will generally have a much harder time committing callous crimes without detection due to their tendency to develop some emotional attachments, and due to their more "normal" temperament

In this case, I dont think trump has anywhere near the emotional control or forethought to be considered a psychopath

Its also worth noting that peoples brains are complex, you dont necessarily tick all the boxes or none. Its common for someone to have a few symptoms without being a full on psychopath/sociopath. For instance, most people in the fire service have some of the key traits of a psychopath, most notably the ability to remain calm under extreme pressure, such as you know, running into a burning building lol. The fire service specifically selects for these people, rejecting anyone who fails to remain calm during training. That doesnt mean every single fire fighter is a psychopath, but it does mean they have some of the traits
