While there certainly are Trump supporters who have terrible personal beliefs. I think this would generally come off as condescending and probably drive the rift even further.

The real issue here IMO is partisan media outlets that are pumping out disinformation. As well as algorithms that are fine tuning the delivery of that information with the result of affirming a person’s belief that their political views are based on a moral high ground. I realize that seems crazy but on the right, they see the left as straying towards becoming Nazis via socialism, etc and are terrible because they’re all looters and rioters. On the left, we see the facist Nazis that are terrible racists and bigots. Simply educating someone on Nazis ignores the root cause of the issue. The reality of it all is that most people are pretty moderate at their core, but have one or two issues that they care about and vote along party lines for that reason because there’s no other choice.
