Trying to eat it, or sleep with it? Either way, not happening! Overzealous little guy

I haven’t lost a lure in years since I’ve been using Spider Wire 40-50 lb braid for the large fish. It casts very well, and it has a very small diameter compared to mono line. I think it’s roughly the same diameter as 12 pound mono. I’ve had hooks bust with large fish, but no line breaks. Another benefit to braid is that you don’t have to change it out very often. If the pike and musky are around weeds, they will definitely dive into them right away. That’s when it gets a bit difficult. A medium sized fish will feel like a whale once they get into thick weeds. If you have the option, try to guide them into deeper water. The bottom line for fishing large pike and musky, is having the right tackle. I would use a med-heavy pole with braided line, especially if there are a lot of weeds.
