You can not believe how many historical places, how many natural beauties Turkey has. I have met a Canadian in here, he was touring with rented car -cause very cheap- well im sure he couldnt even visit %5 of them giving the 2 weeks short time.
Shame on the “brains” who in charge. I remember one secluded village who has made a focking Poligon on some ancient things in open air. Because they didnt want to place geting popular and getting tourists there. I dont know what happened after.
For safety reasons? Here are some general ideas for extremely cautious ones:
81 cities we have. All different. Some of the East/southeast border side (who has high mountains) has periodic terror problem, dont go there with the bus. Dont wear military themed costumes there.
Just learn the “religiousness” level of the city. I recommend west and south seasides, they are secular sides. Or look at the vote graph of CHP. For example In Antalya -which is hot like hell. 28 celcius in night, 37 in day nowadays- some people swim in october (even november) you can wear whatever you want. My favorite time is 3-5 sept. Warm sea, warm weather.
For istanbul religiousness changes with district but does not have harmful effects, so much tourists they had.
For harm? Not much. Only beware of Ramadan time, do not eat/drink something outside in extremely religious cities, someone can hit you. Well probably you didnt hear the city name, thel are not much touristic cities. If you show ‘too much’ skin (this increases with religious level) you can feel hungry eyes on you, and sometimes hear rapid tongue clicking sounds thats all. At theese times do not stay alone with strangers.
Lastly attention to your pockets in crowded places, for pickpocketers. Dont expect police to come fast, ambulance comes fast sometimes but not the police, especially if dangerous situations.

Tl;dr: Dont just dive in shopping and full time hotels. We always have 4 seasons. You can swim and get sunburn and you can play snowball in the same day. Much more for history and nature lovers.
