Turkish opposition backs Erdogan over Greek island claims

Yep, and look at the cliff the UK has thrown itself off in a fit of nationalistic fervour as a result. If we had a healthier relationship with our history, perhaps we wouldn't be turning ourselves into the poor man of Europe again. Perhaps this is precisely the humbling experience we need in order for this to actually happen.

Germany is far better off for having gone through the painful process of recognising and condemning the sins of its fathers. Can you imagine what Germany and Europe would be like today if the official position of the German government was that the Holocaust didn't happen and that the Nazis did nothing wrong?

The world as a whole would collectively be better off if many other countries performed similar soul searching.
