it's funny, because i never actually thought to fact-check "MLK was an NRA member" in the first place. i thought that, with the confidence with which you uttered that, it was probably true. well it turns out that it isn't. he was never an NRA member, he had applied for a CCW permit once (after his house was bombed). so that original talking point of yours is not only bullshit in context, it's just straight up bullshit.

and on the topic of what the NRA was in the 60's, your first source does lead me ton concede a bit. i still think there is a drastic difference in the NRA pre and post 1975. they weren't even lobbyists before 1975. but honestly who cares, this was about MLK. he wasn't an NRA member. check yourself before you tell others to get their "BS out of here"
