The TV commercial just told me to “go see Ma before anybody spoils any of it...seriously...it’s THAT good.” And the voice over was evil sounding.

I know you're being sarcastic but here's what I was able to find from a Hollywood Reporter article

It’s a significant win for Sony, given its currently anemic slate, but to acquire the project, the studio had to contend with Tarantino’s lofty demands, including, sources say, a $95 million production budget, final cut and “extraordinary creative controls,” plus a whopping 25 percent of first-dollar gross. Another demand was that the rights to the movie revert to him after 10 to 20 years.

It mentions "extraordinary creative controls," which might be related to marketing but not necessarily. Haven't seen that confirmed anywhere and I'd think that's the one piece of this that Sony would want to keep for themselves at least to some degree.
