I'd have to agree with Annie Lennox interpretation of Twerking here. I haven't got an issue with it but I can see how some one like Annie Lennox might. And I certainly think in terms of how Annie Lennox earned her fame in the 80's and how someone like Beyoncé have made theirs Annie Lennox certainly has the better feminist chops. Being a POC doesn't immediately make a person right, and simply saying 'I'm a feminist (as long as women buy my records)'.

Let's just look at some of Beyoncé's enlightened pro-feminist lyrics here.

Truly words the suffragettes truly must have inspired.

Here's another little gem from those fierce independent single ladies

And Beyoncé alone has some choice things to say in her lyrics to empower women everywhere.

I mean yeah there's a couple of songs about being independent etc (I think one was done for the god awful Charlies Angels movie), and of course Beyoncé doesn't write this shlock but whatever.

I think any backlash from SJW's towards Lennox is more to do with her age (ageism anybody) being less well known to younger people, and the fact she's from a different age of feminism (when it actually achieved things). Maybe Annie Lennox shouldn't say things about current performers, I don't know, we're all entitled to an opinion, but I think my points clear, Beyoncé is a corporate hull that will sing whatever pays a check, she's a Christian who will dress like a dime store hooker and twerk it if it will sell concert tickets and I find it ridiculous that feminist rush to her defence for being black without really thinking about her credentials first. To be honest I don't care what Beyoncé does though.
