As someone who commutes from an area where riding a bike is something you do when you don't have a car to an area that is very wealthy and biking is a hobby you need to understand you scare us. I can not talk for people who are used to cyclists in their area, they should be used to it absolutely. I am getting better at driving with you guys on the road now after a few months of practice but at first it was terrifying! I was scared for my safety and the safety of the bikers, I was just not comfortable at all with the situation. You need to understand that some people are going to be scared, you are flying 40-45 mph on a small piece of metal with nothing but a helmet, yea that scares people who aren't used to seeing that. So I can't defend local a-holes who are disrespecting you but I just wanted to point out that not everyone is 'against' you. Some people are not used to that at all and it makes them uncomfortable when driving. I am sure that doesn't make it any better but I know that as one of those people I mean no harm and I am sure they don't either they just want to get as far away from you as possible.
