Two NYPD Officers Were Accused Of Raping A Teen Under Arrest. The Charges Have Been Dropped.

-Knowing nothing about New York law, sounds like the prosecutors were doing the correct thing legally by dropping the charges.

No, it doesn't. Not at all. This reeks of corruption and injustice. The victim has never indicated that this was an instance where she agreed to a 'bribery.' The cops claimed that. She has stuck true to her story from the beginning that she was forcibly kidnapped and gang raped, and there's nothing to indicate anything has changed about her story in this regard. The law before in NY is that it wasn't a crime for a cop to have consensual sex with a person under arrest, and now it is a crime. But these cops KNEW THAT and so that's why they came out and said it was consensual sex after the incident.

But that shouldn't even matter because the victim NEVER said the three of them "had sex." Rape is not sex. She has never said that what happened was consensual.

-I'm not exactly sure what these credibility issues are

She apparently lied or misremembered details about what she was wearing that night (claimed a skirt at one point but was actually in sweatpants), and also couldn't remember what the inside of the van looked like exactly. Normal creditability issues you'd think right? Can someone please explain to me how that backs up the claim that this was consensual? I mean, because it sounds like these new charges are essentially pinning this on the victim. That she bribed them (all because she lied about wearing a mini-skirt.) Cool. I mean I guess every rape victim in America can't be credible now unless they can recount the exact clothing they wore the night of their attack? /s

Keep in mind it's not uncommon at all for individuals under distress to misremember small details. But yet nothing with regards to her trauma around the kidnapping and rape claims have changed since day one. She has always maintained that this encounter was not consensual. I'm sorry but it just doesn't matter that they are cops to me: remove the cop factor for one moment. Two men with a white van approached a teenager, claimed she was under arrest, put her in handcuffs so she couldn't move, drove her to an undisclosed location, and then with their guns loaded forced her to have vaginal & oral sex in exchange for her freedom. And then when finished, they dumped her on the side of a rode, shoved a klonopin down her throat, and said she'd be sorry if she told anyone.

Sounds like two creeps who just....kidnapped and raped her if you think about like that, no?
