Tyler Perry pays over $400,000 to pay off layaway for 1,500 Walmart customers: ‘It's hard times’

You keep building strawmen to argue against.

Aka valid scenarios.

You're also using contrived examples that don't represent the majority of layaway purchases

Baseless.

you're ignoring the fundamental differences between the necessity of items purchased on layaway and those purchased with loans.

Layaway - clothes
Load - cars
Both necessities and have cheap alternatives.

Layaway, like a credit card, results in the consumer spending more than they should.

Exactly like folks earning $50k a year and buying a 2019 crossover.

It enables poor spending habits by allowing people to commit to a purchase before they have the money.

See above.

Buying shit just because it's on sale and you want it doesn't make it a wise purchase.

Not at all what my scenario suggested.

If these people don't have credit extended to them, there's probably a reason.

Variables you have never had to deal with in you’re easy, safety net life.

If you don't have the money for a TV, then you probably don't have money for emergencies.

Poor people have budgets too.
