‘Tyre Extinguishers’ now in Didsbury. Friend has her tyre let down overnight for owning an SUV in the city

Does anyone else feel like this is part of the Americanisation of the U.K.

I’m all for it I love American culture and people but the U.K wasn’t built for big vehicles. Anyone who has visited America will confirm that the roads and highways are much bigger.

Just search for a piece from the Comedian Doug Stanhope on youtube, he sums it up perfectly.

It’s very odd that the upwards mobility of aspirational people leads to the obiquitous purchase of massive SUVs which they then park in their small bit of land outside of their terraced house or in a communal car park.

The whole point of a SUV in my opinion is terrain based, if you live in the country or an otherwise remote location then the 4 wheel drive alone is worth it.

All these muppets buying SUVs and then driving to the shop or school run down the road which would be a 5-10 minute walk are just conflating America with the U.K.

U.K roads are just not designed for these bigger vehicles, at least not when you scale them up. It’s getting farcical.
