/u/AndrewJamesDrake explains on an economic, strategic, and logistical level why it isn’t unreasonable to see a lack of technological advancement in a high fantasy setting (e.g. in the Elder Scrolls games)

I've been stealthily permabanned from that sub. No warning, no second chance, no reasoning, nothing. Just checked, am still not allowed to interact with them and it's been almost 3 years now.

Here's what happened: Someone came with a post about Vivec, a demigod that wished to break beyond the duality of things, so they ran away with the LGBT interpretation of it. This caused them to neutralise every single pronoun in a rather cramped fashion, something I had literally never seen before and only like twice after. (he -> hir, stuff like that... or was it him -> hir?)

Either way, I asked calmly but directly what it was about, people replied with similar calmness and confusion. When returning a bit later, turned out my comment and all underneath got removed, and I was apparently not welcome anymore.

To this very day.
