/u/Direpants has something to say about wishing rape on prisoners, no matter what their crime.

Disagreement is not ignorance. I partially disagree with your opinion (since I guess that you agree with OP on the whole punishment discussion) and I still respect it and think it's reasonable. I don't need to call you ignorant in order to validate my opinion, but I guess it is too much to expect the same attitude in return.

You claim that you aren't saying to treat them all as if their fake or lies, however you are justifying treating this one in particular based on nothing aside from the basis that it's common.

What you fail to percieve is that I'm not accusing any particlar comment of being fake. That would be stupid. I'm saying that it seems to be a rather common thing, which I guess you didn't disagree. It's easy to be a good guy when you're in place that only requires you to write like one to be one. Once again, if you don't believe this, you're being naive and need to exercise your critical sense a bit. But I'm pretty sure you agree with me on that point.

assuming anything without reason, regardless of how common it seems to be, is incredibly idiotic.

All I'm assuming that it's common. Not accusing any particular comment. Once again, critic thinking. Believing Reddit unconditionally is what I find idiotic.

I'm not talking about easy discussion. You are being too simplistic when you divide debates between easy and hard. I'm talking about productivity, some subjects lead nowhere when being discussed, musical taste and religion are classical examples. If you really like discussing those, you're doing it just for the sake of it (and you have too much free time) or you didn't find out that it's pointless yet. I doubt that you can change people's religious or musical beliefs with your non-ignorant discussion, and this represents other non-productive debates, in a lesser extent.
