this guy isn't American. I know reddit is being horrendously racist right now but his post doesn't make a lot of sense.

as a Maryland resident, I can tell you right now, there's a lot of misrepresentation in his post.

Baltimore is a genuine shithole, yes. a systematic hive of racism it is not.

• the mayor of baltimore is a black woman

• most of the police force is black

• most of the political administrators of baltimore are black

• it's illegal to carry switch blades in Maryland

• 4 days of peaceful protest do not excuse subsequent rioting

the murder of Freddie Gray needs to be investigated. the policemen responsible should be put in jail for a long time. the protestors had the right idea. yet the minute the rioters turned up, they managed to delegitimize the whole protest and derail the conversation. that's the real tragedy here.

mach-2 is trying to justify the whole fracas as a legitimate expression. that's not the case. I'm mindful of the fact that many of the rioters are opportunistic idiots seeking to exploit a temporary anarchy. you can consistently condemn the rioters and uphold the cause that the protesters were trying to get across.

trying to justify the actions of the rioters is going to get you nowhere. short of genuine despotism, riots are almost never justified in western society. I sit hear listening to the helicopters and getting texts from my friends terrified to go outside and who have to stay home from school tomorrow because of this. right now, this is not political. it's pure opportunism. and anyone endorsing it is an enabler. reddit is scum right now, this is just confirmation for all the stormfront types that hang out here, but this post isn't very elucidating.
