/u/mach-2 Gives a well thought perspective on whats happening in Baltimore

I'm a bit confused on all that's going on here too. I agree that there's been some racism, but I don't see it everywhere. I don't think it's any worse than any other Internet site to be honest. But maybe it's just the subs I frequent. One thing that's been bothering me is that people are blurring the line way too heavily between "racist" and "misinformed." You're either in total agreement with the "Reddit is racist" circlejerk or you are a racist.

While OP's post was clearly thought out, I can't help but disagree with some of what he's saying. He says that part of the reason the rioting/looting happened (or maybe I just misread?) is that the members of that community are "frustrated" and tired of being mistreated. Okay? So that somehow justifies destroying an entire fucking neighborhood? Most of the rioters I've seen in pictures and on TV have a smug look on their face or look like they're having fun. You can't just pretend they're doing that out of frustration.

There's a clear issue going on in certain lower economic communities right now. A lack of a good education and economic standing make a perfect breeding ground for these kinds of events to unfold. Also, I've heard several African Americans talk about how you're looked down upon for "acting white", which seems to be code for favoring education over other activities. It isn't just limited to African American communities though. Any group of people that doesn't hold value in education tends to be afraid of it.

So when I heat that it's wrong to not question the culture, I get annoyed. It isn't African American culture, it's the culture of the uneducated. And it's happening everywhere in America. Too many people of too many races seem to think education is stupid.

We need an educational reform in the United States. When people are educated, they can get jobs. When they get jobs, they're content. And when they're content, they aren't destroying entire fucking neighborhoods to steal snacks from CVS.
