It's not as simple as it's made out though. There's quite a startling correlation between wanting to transition and childhood trauma, in which case transitioning is just putting a plaster on a gaping wound rather than addressing the issue of underlying trauma. It's probably one of the reasons why after transitioning, trans people still have a higher suicide rate than the general population.

I think most people find nothing wrong with transitioning; the issue is with pernicious groups who simplify the matter by shutting down debate and advocating transitioning as a cure-all for every case of gender dysphoria.
