U of O students prepare to sit year out due to OSAP cuts

Education is a bad thing

'Bad' is an emotion. This is not an emotional subject. Post secondary education is a net drain on Canadian society, yes. The best data available suggests that ~30% of the population in post secondary schools is optimal. Canada exceeds 60%. That is a misguided target, fuelled by people like you who make decisions based on emotions rather than facts.

It's like the concept of empathy is an alien concept to you.

Emotions in a conversation about data is indeed alien. 'I don't feel like the world is any hotter' doesn't mean global warming isn't taking place. The data is clear that it is, even if I would prefer it to not be the case. Back away from your feelings. They have no place here. This is not an emotional topic, we are simply observing that the data shows that there is not a gain made from the post secondary schooling provided in Canada.

Don't get me wrong, I get it. You spent a lot of time and money on school and you need to feel comforted by justifying your choice. Choice-supported bias, also known as post-purchase rationalization, is a well studied phenomenon. Your attempts to turn this into an emotional issue are expected, but not welcome. You are headed into off-topic territory.

This article was literally about people dropping out of school because the loan doesn't cover the entire tuition and you're trying to argue that's a good thing.

No, good is an emotion. This is not an emotional subject. Also, I am have a discussion with Peekman about something else entirely. I am unsure of why you keep referencing the article, or why you are even here if you are not interested in our little tangent?

Lemme guess, you also believe that universities are brainwashing kids with "liberal ideas" and you like Doug Ford/would vote for him if you lived in Ontario

I do live in Ontairo. I did not vote for Ford (wrong riding), but I did not vote for my local PC candidate either. I voted for the NDP candidate, if you are really curious. I do not concern myself with what goes on in universities. It is not presented in any meaningful dataset. Even if the data did show that kids were being brainwashed, I would not care to take an emotional stance on that in this thread. There is no place for emotions here.
