u/RSperfect highlights two year old video of Duncan Trussell warning Joe Rogan right as he signed to Spotify that "corrupt" people are going to cosy up to him to use his platform to push right wing ideologies. Rogan brushed it off but went from endorsing Bernie to cheering for DeSantis.

Huh?

Don’t send market orders. And really don’t send them if you think the financial services industry is there waiting to rip you off.

Of all the ways people are getting epically screwed over in the US, stock execution of retail order flow is pretty fucking far down the list.

You used to have to pay a flat fee of somewhere close to $35 to make a retail stock trade, after calling a broker, maybe sitting on hold for a while when shit was busy. Oh and spreads were probably 25c wide minimum.

Now it’s "free" (to you) to trade whenever you want and spreads are probably less than 1c wide on liquid names, and the list of regulations protecting retail orders is as long as your arm.

If a broker is giving you a free app, with a free account, and you can make free trades on your free app in your free account whenever you want, are you really suggesting/assuming that there are no costs to these providers? The programmers work for free? The servers cost nothing?

If you want to return to the days of $35 commissions on stock trades, keep bitching about stupid shit like payment for order flow.
