U.S. Companies Are Stashing $2.1 Trillion Overseas to Avoid Taxes

Who said anything about negotiation?

  1. They intentionally take money/jobs out of the country, that would help our country, to avoid paying taxes. In my book, that is massive douche-baggery and non-patriotic.

  2. They cry they can't don't want to get the money back into the country because the tax rate is too high, when they knew full well by taking that money out of the country that's the tax rate they will face.

  3. 30% was put in place to prevent companies from taking tax dollars out of the country and they did it anyway.

  4. Now we have companies whining about the tax rates to bring the money back into the country.

Negotiation? That's exactly the tactic they are using now, when the full-well knew the consequences. "Let's negotiate," they say. Lookie, tax money!" YEAH, that THEY SHOULD HAVE PAID IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Personally, I wouldn't negotiate shit, and if you want to take more offshore, then take your damn company out of the country entirely and stop reaping the benefits of the US when you don't give back to the US.

:) I'm laughing because I didn't even read the article. I really don't care about any of it. Corporations give us jobs so we can eat, so yay them, but they also run our Government, obese our citizens, pay us shit wages, kill the middle class, prevent us from getting healthcare for profit, make the rich richer and the poor poorer, avoid taxes that help our country at all fucking cost, gouge us on every price possible, and there's virtually nobody that gives a shit about any of it. So neither do I. Our citizens are more concerned about popularity, their cell phones, and 'likes' than actually trying to be informed, and making informed decisions, like getting money out of politics, and telling Comcast to go fuck themselves by not paying their prices. Let them bring it all back in tax-free. Whatever. I lost $70,000 to the housing bust to the same people who received a bailout from me, and then collectively received over a billion in bonuses without ever even worrying about the actual prison they should have been populating. I'm joining the apathetic brigade. Had fun arguing with you.

btw, the tax rate they pay bringing money back into the US should probably be somewhat higher to the tax rate they would pay here in the US in the first place, and other tactics should be utilized to try to keep jobs here. Just my completely ignorant opinion. Also, ALL U.S. CITIZENS SHOULD REALIZE THESE CORPORATIONS DO NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU OR YOUR JOB. PERIOD. The bottom line dollar is all that matters, which is exactly why they should NOT IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER CONTROL OUR GOVERNMENT, especially through campaign financing. It's just business, right?
