U.S. reports 41,407 new cases of coronavirus so far today, the biggest one-day increase since the pandemic began

I actually don't know, and I don't think anyone does. However, I do know that the protests were largely limited in time, and were organized and attended by people who were cautious about wearing masks, maintaining masks, and limiting space. I also know that the American populace that is rejecting preventative measures has been doing this for a sustained period, and will continue doing so, and flagrantly disregards any attempt at avoiding contact with other people.

While I don't know what the scale of either of these two groups are, I do suspect that they're honestly pretty even considering how cleanly divided this country always manages to be. So, maybe the protests were bad -- but I definitely think if you want to lay blame, you should start with the swath of people who haven't been wearing masks, and will continue yelling about how much they don't want to wear masks... while all the protesters have retreated to their homes and resumed a decent measure of social distancing already.
