Uber and Lyft Drivers: Please don't ask someone who is trapped in your car for their number.

The dynamic in a car is different than in an office setting. If a dude freaks out bc I rejected him in the workplace, there are other people around and more importantly, I can run away. If I am in a car and a dude freaks out, I cannot do anything. Most likely there is no witness. He could drive me anywhere and I couldn't get out, esp if he used child locks. So my option is to freak the fuck out and try to break through the window of a moving car. Or I might freeze.

You seem like the person who would say that it's ridiculous to think of that scenario. It's not. I had a guy who was old enough to be my father joke about kidnapping me as he drove me home. I'll spare the rest of the details. He had done this to other women. I learned this from Lyft and him, as he bragged about how the other woman made him stop and let her out. I was worried the entire ride how to play this game as we were on a highway at night.

Women have often experienced a guy freaking out from rejection or heard a story of it. There's no reason to put someone in a position where they need to (rationally) worry about your reaction. You're a stranger. There's no basis of trust.
