[UK] Drunk 70-year-old driver hits parked cars and finally crashes into back of a lorry

Yep, a former classmate of mine was so hammered he passed out in the drive thru of a McDonald's and didn't regain conciousness until the cops broke through his window.

He's drunk driven loads of times but never been caught before. He even bragged about how good he was at driving drunk, how he would drive by cops without them noticing, as if they were the idiots.

Anyway his case was dismissed as a first time offense, despite it not being his first (or last) time driving drunk.

I've loathed him since middle school, but he's a charismatic guy so he'd always find new friends. I offered to meet up to lunch with him (we were friends before middle school) hoping that maybe I could be someone to confide in, to help him get through it and end better than he went in. But nope, didn't show up and didn't even remember when I asked him months later, after nonchalantly liking a post on my facebook. He was probably pissed or high when he agreed to it, and again when he missed it.

I hope he gets help, but I very much doubt he will.
