Why is the UK market (FTSE) so underwhelming?

Zero economics education. Just reading and learning as I go, you certainly seem more well versed than I.

From my understanding, the since the gold standard, countries have been printing more and more money, devaluing currencies, increasing inflation. The ripple effects of these are that the money freed up by QE some is invested, thus propping up the markets.

Inflation is currently well above where banks/governments want, so they're increasing interest rates which reduces the money of available to people/businesses. This will cause a higher unemployment also, simply triggering a recession and lowers the amount of purchase power and therefore inflation.

My original comment that the US rigs is stock market is based off the QE and money ripple effect. The UK rigs its housing market by controlling supply, encouraging overseas buyers and by enforcing taxes on them which they can lower or remove to simulate purchases in times of need.
