[UK] More people bought Crash Bandicoot in its first week than Horizon Zero Dawn - making it the biggest single-format launch in 2017

And I just mentioned a bunch of games that do innovate. ARMs and Splatoon are fresh (hehe) new IPs that twist the fighting and team shooter genre into new and interesting directions.
Breath of the Wild presents one of the most compelling open-worlds ever by honing in on the classic exploration angle of the older games and polishing it to a mirror sheen with a solid physics system and plenty of toys to mess with it and complete goals (player-driven or objective-driven) in your own way.
And Super Mario Odyssey looks... Shit, I can barely even explain it. Seriously, how did you come to the conclusion of Kirby + Mario for this one? It looks like it's finally taking Mario out of his comfort zone into a lot of diverse, strange worlds with plenty of new mechanics.

Yeah, the new Yoshi and Kirby games look pretty standard, but what about letting Ubisoft turn Nintendo's mascot into the lead of an XCOM-like strategy title? What about taking a risk on a hybrid console? How can you honestly say that they're just selling old nostalgia with a straight face when they're actually taking a lot of interesting risks?
