The reason to always bring up "virtue signalling" is to make one's self feel good for inaction. Everyone must act in their self-interest only since this ensures optimal outcome, and any show of affection or emotion must obviously be false or worse crocodile tears. Therefore, always look for political motivations, and always be mindful of making others feel inferior with your good deeds or charitable acts. Remember, psychopaths and self-centered people have feelings too. The key is to ensure that such people do not feel uncomfortable. Most of all we must preserve the purity of any activity and ban anything unrelated, because people are incapable of doing two things at the same time. Remember to call any help of anyone virtue signalling, so that you can feel proud of your inaction and ascribe sinister motives and allude to incompetence. Most of all to defend the right to non-activity because that's definitely under serious threat.
