ULEZ: Mayor announces proposals for London-wide pollution charge

This has got to be the shittest argument for why you should be allowed to create air pollution I have ever seen.

Oh, so people aren’t allowed to like things they paid good money for?

How about buses, cabs, log burners, constantly running air conditioning compressors, diesel generators at events, all those empty offices in the City with ever twinkling lights on when nobodies home. I like cars. I like my car, it does exactly what I need it to, it looks good, is reliable, cheap to maintain, pollutes much less than other ULEZ compliant cars, but because Mr Khan thinks I’m scum of the earth I’m not allowed to own it any more without paying him money for the revenue he needs to keep TfL afloat?

Let’s not pretend this has anything to do with air pollution. If 83% of cars in the proposed zone are exempt, the remaining 17% isn’t suddenly going to mean Canary Wharf has a bit less smog around it.
