UN Rights Chief Says US Coup Effort Result of 'Deliberate Distortion of Facts, and Incitement to Violence' by Trump and GOP

You make really good points.

I think we could start by not allowing any entity calling themselves a “news” organization to allow opinion.

It would upend a long tradition of editorializing in our news media, but the cost of broadcasting/publishing has come down considerably. So much so that publications like the NY Times or CNN or Fox can easily afford to maintain two websites or channels.

Fox News for instance can maintain another channel called Fox Opinions or whatever, but no allusion can be made whatsoever to represent opinions as fact.

What you say on your news networks may also be held to a higher standard. If you’re found to have represented a known falsehood as factual news to the public and can’t establish a reasonable source, you can either issue a retraction or be fined.
