Under 18 - Banking Options

Minor accounts require a guardian or a co-signer in case you over draft or become deliquent on your account, they can cover the losses by going after the guardian or co signer. Banks and credit unions are there to make money not help people.

Unless you have been emancipated, and you can provide legal court documents you are your own guardian and can enter into contract they might give you an account, even then they still might ask for a co-signer because you don't have bank history.

This is not an option, but it is something that happens. If you find a crooked banker, they prolly will forge your age, identification, and information on your bank profile to open you an account just to make their monthly quota. I saw a lot of that at Wells Fargo.
