Under Trump's watch, America's national debt has increased by $6.6 trillion

maybe that used to be the case but i suspect it’s not anymore. i’m mid-30s economics degree, MBA, and I’m a hedge fund attorney. i started college (mid-2000s) very conservative. then i got out into the real world and realized how rigged the system is for people with money and how unfair it is for people without money. court rooms. hiring practices. tax breaks. any time you’re negotiating. bank accounts. corporate policy. loans. literally everything.

needless to say i am SIGNIFICANTLY less conservative today than i was in school. i left the ivory tower armed with “knowledge” and convinced i could help those silly poor people find their bootstraps. and guess what? in all my volunteer work i haven’t yet met one single poor person who could be “financially planned” or EITC-ed out of their poverty. all the knowledge in the world doesn’t help when the house is playing with a stacked deck.
