Under what circumstances should adult children intervene?

Does sound rather impractical!

They sound like my grandparents. My grandmother was a hoarder, they had a huge farm and she mainly hoarded clothes and cats (people would dump them near the farm) but pretty much everything else too.

I couldn't take people there because the whole farm was just a huge mess, shed after shed filled with crap. There were rooms you couldn't even open the door to.

She died a few years ago. As sad it it was and as much as I miss her my Grandad and flourished since she died. He basically handed over the farm to one of my uncles and left the place, he's been on holidays and enjoyed life so much more.

They couldn't go anywhere or do anything because of her hoard and it dramatically affected her health. He was finally free of all of it.

No one was ever able to get through to her. Hoarders are very passionate about no one getting rid of their stuff. It seems unlikely that she would abandon the house by selling it without keeping everything in it.

He needs to have a good long talk with her
