I didn't mean to get into specifics about majority/consent. Was just trying to use this as an example.

As for the latter part...

I do not believe that prohibiting parents from taking their kids to drag shows is a necessary action on behalf of the state.

I agree with you that it is unnecessary, but it opens a whole can of worms in terms of what parents can and can't do with their children. Should I be allowed to keep child pornography of my own kid? Obviously that is the very extreme end of the spectrum, but the argument stems from the same place. At what point can the state step in to "protect children?"

Everyone is on the spectrum somewhere between state-should-do-nothing and state-should-ban-everything. If the people of Florida continue to vote in politicians who campaign on this, who are we to tell them not to?
