Undercover Motorcycle Cop Pulling Over Phone Users.

You said it yourself.

Unless you are driving recklessly

There is a real chance that I or any of the other thousands of motorists you share the road with will do something dangerous.

The undeniable truth is that you ate 100% safer if you are focused on the happenings around you.

Look at the last lady, she doesn't even realize that a motorbike had pulled up next to her...

Imagine you are waiting to turn right at a red, there is a blue car in front of you who is proceeding straight. You are obviously very important so you must check your phone at all times. You're messaging your friend when you see the blue car go through the light, and the car behind you gives you a honk. In a split second you hit the accelerator and begin to turn right, failing to realize a bicycle that is comeing up beside you. You swing your 1 tonne death machine directly into the path of the oncoming cyclist and in a split second that bike has gone from 20 mph to zero and the rider has been flung over your hood and onto the road, he lies there in a heap.

If you were checking your mirrors or blind spots, just being aware of your surroundings this kind of thing can be avoided.

Really think about it, you may be a great driver, but if you are not focused on the task of operating your motor vehicle you will be caught off guard, and that's when you endanger me.

It is not too much to ask that you don't use your phone in traffic, whether driving or stopped. You are smarter than that. And someday you might be caught in a situation where someone could die unless you act alertly and quickly.

I hope you reconsider your opinion, it took me a close call like the one I wrote to reevaluate my priorities behind the wheel. Its easy to find a place to quickly pull over and message your friend.

Drive safe man.
