Uni too far away from home

Sup man, I was feeling similar in my first year, felt like I didn't fit in right at all. Home was solid 5 hour train journey away at best and it was like I wasn't going to the right uni, made even worse with a death in the family. But I stuck it out, you really start to appreciate the private, independent actions you can carry out that you can't do while at home. While yes living at home can save you cash, but uni is much more than that. It's a trial run at living when your family aren't around, giving you massively important skills. I eventually loved staying at the uni, fell into a great group of friends and look bed the location. Best decision of my life to stay there.

It's a hard change of routine when we've all been living at home for most our lives, but it changes the vast majority for the better. Don't feel pressured to go clubbing. Be friendly with people on your course and honestly say "fuck it" and don't be afraid to try new things and clubs, sounds so cliche but it works. Don't feel like your life is over because you didn't go out much for freshers, It's such a small time of your uni life you.
