Uni vs. the Real World

Yep. I am teaching whilst I am finishing my bachelors. So much of the garbage that they shovel onto us in lectures do not make it past the class door.

Our HODs and admin froth over the uni stuff, but the teachers that actually, you know, teach all say the same thing - the degree is just a piece of paper that gets you through the door.

Sure, some of the stuff has been super useful, especially the placements. But some of the nonsense, I believe, is purely there to act as filler for a 4 year degree.

Did you know that a Pilot only needs a 3 year course? I had a student ask me why teachers are at uni longer than pilots, and I honestly had no idea either.
