A hundred years is not recently enough to me. Why is 100 years acceptable but 170 years (back when America stole a bunch of Mexican land like California for example) too ridiculous? The only real difference is we've got nationalism. We want to feel like the UK is struggling and we are doing well so we don't feel small and unimportant. Simple

If we weren't even alive, and many of our parents weren't alive for the separation then it's ridiculous.

And P.S the Catholics were pro unification in the end and the orange men were against it. They swapped when they realised unification was good for protestants and not good for Catholics. That's pragmatism. We could use some of that
