How do you unionize an industry comprised, effectively, of freelancers and self-employed content creators? The relationship between a crowdfunding platform and content creators doesn't strike me as very similar to that of a traditional employer-employee setup and I don't know how they'd go about engaging in collective bargaining.

Not opposed to the idea, but it seems like what they need first and foremost is a cooperative or collective alternative to Patreon - and, let's be honest, the top Patreon earners like CTH and Lindsay would be understandably hesitant to drop Patreon unless they absolutely had to. Too much risk (in migrating to a new site) of an irrecoverable drop in earnings.
