Is the United States actually the “laughing stock” of the world?

Left the midwest for NYC many years ago, because the ignorance was obvious and appalling.

Then left the US entirely several years later, because the ignorance was appalling and scary.

The things the US cares about, and doesn’t care about, seem almost like an alien species, compared to what the vast majority of humans everywhere else care about and work toward. Imperfectly no doubt, but still, they work, and even more importantly, mostly try to work together.

I think about this stuff all the time. At no point has it ever been laughable — just sad, depressing, infuriating and a million other adjectives, none of them “funny”.

If the current mob, especially KingMobster, gets back in, I’m out for good - as in, renouncing citizenship. There will be no going back.

PS - In before “did you vote as OS expat??” - yep every single time.
