Universal basic services could work better than basic income to combat 'rise of the robots', say experts

people immediately turn to such black-and-white, hard-headed opinions whenever UBI or variation of it comes up. it's either "It'll solve everything" or "Lazy jerks want free money".

it's somewhere in between. something needs to change, or happen, or be fixed. too many people starve and freeze in the world, in America and in our own communities.

it would be the same for everyone, so why is it such a concern about the people who would live off of UBI alone and not work? people just get butthurt about someone having something they don't. we'd see a renaissance of art, science and technology once people pinned down by the current way of things are free to pursue their passions. and for all the people opposed who are jaded by their decades at a job they dislike, well here's your way out! and even if you had to keep working, at least this would help take some pressure off. just seems like anyone opposed is being selfish because they have enough and don't care that others don't.

the system is broken. this could help.
