University of Missouri Faculty Stages Walkout as Racism Protests Widen

Because everyone one is immersed in escapism to the point that their minor issues become the source of all evil in the world, because they experience them. There is no context to place their suffering in, they don't even understand the outside world, they grew up wanting not to be challenged mentally, emotionally or morally. The world offered up with little criticism what they demanded. Further more they grew up in a post 9/11 world where there existed immense pressure to not criticize the government while many did who were adults, they as children were presented the more sheltered view of these events, and the pressure to not question serious issues fell on them hardest.

They are the generation raised when news became sound bites, and articles became headlines. The new became worse the journalism sensationalized and for profit news pushed the profit generating stories. They exist in the fish bowl the corporate media landscape has painted America to be.

They were raised by parents that often deeply questioned the importance of reading and critical thinking education (Why do we need to know this, I'll never use this), this lack of emphasis made it okay for parents to intervene for their grades as the civil nature of education eroded in the minds of the public. As bible thumpers went with an axe to censor what literature could be taught students sat endlessly questioning why they had to read 1984, never read it and had their parents write their 5 page essay from spark notes.

The Media offered up a never broken chain of easily digestible blockbuster movies that thoroughly appealed to escapism. The world for the kids who grew up post 9/11 is a circle jerk of fears real and manufactured, from Orange terror alerts to the threat of Global Warming. So the world can be saved by some super hero who lives in a world where the bad guys are easily identifiable and the issues are black and white.

Their parents sheltered them in all their fear and panic and effectively sealed them off from reality. They grew up as status objects for their parents in a world where children are optional. They are the manifest of their parents hopes and dreams, their dolls for dress up and their future sports heroes. They are not to them on average little people who are to be engaged and raised into the world, but just another pet, they yap to much and they throw them a treat.
